Books for Babies
Congratulations on the new addition to your family! If you live in Scio and have recently added a member to your family, the Friends of the Scio Public Library would like to give you a Books for Babies Kit. As you probably already know, reading to babies helps them learn more quickly and builds a bond between the baby and the reader. The Books for Babies Kit includes a board book, a onesie, a list of age appropriate books for babies, and Baby's First Library Card.
We hope you will come by the Scio library, which is located inside City Hall, to pick up your kit and give your little one a love of reading.
The Holiday Spirit of Giving Away New Books
For the third year in a row during the holiday season, the Friends of the Scio Public Library provided more than 180 new books to local families. Our gift-giving was in conjunction with the Scio Fire Association’s annual Gift and Food Baskets that are distributed to families in our area. We would like to thank Scio Mutual Telephone Association for their $200 donation to support this program.
We are proud of this project because it addresses one of the Friends’ missions which is to promote literacy in the Scio community. We know that books in the home encourage people, young and old, to read. It is our hope that the children and young adults who receive the books enjoy them and become lifelong readers.
